Rent a bike in Marseille !

Aïoli, colleagues! Have you ever visited Marseille? What, no? Well, that's a load of rubbish!

Well, now's the time to put that right and hire a bike, mountain bike, scooter, whatever, to visit the extraordinary city of Marseille, a fascinating blend of Provencal traditions, Mediterranean influences and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

It's impossible to talk about France's second-largest city without mentioning its charming old port, with its colourful fishing boats, terraced cafés, quaysides and seafood restaurants, which has made Marseille famous far beyond its borders!

Marseille is also famous for its cultural diversity. Take a stroll through the streets and you'll discover a variety of neighbourhoods such as Le Panier, the city's oldest district, with its picturesque alleyways and craft shops. Don't miss the Cours Julien district, one of the most bohemian in the city. It has a vibrant art scene with trendy cafés, art galleries and colourful graffiti.

People also come to Marseille for its impressive Calanques, a national park that stretches along the coast between Marseille and Cassis, which can be explored by hike, kayak or boat. The Côte Bleue, Les Goudes, Sormiou... These magnificent rock formations along the coast, interspersed with secluded coves and unspoilt beaches, are breathtaking scenery. Hikers can explore the paths that offer breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, and diving enthusiasts can head for the beaches below for a well-deserved dip.

Last but not least, Marseille is a particularly dynamic cultural city. It is home to museums, art galleries, theatres and festivals that showcase art, music and dance. The MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) is a must-see (and particularly beautiful) cultural venue, exploring the history and diversity of the Mediterranean.

Another cultural treasure is the Château d'If, located on the island of the same name. It is famous thanks to Alexandre Dumas' novel "The Count of Monte Cristo_". You can take a ferry from the Vieux-Port to visit this historic fortress.

Oh, oops, we forgot the gourmets. Don't forget to try Marseille's culinary specialities: bouillabaisse, a traditional fish soup, and the famous navettes, biscuits flavoured with orange blossom, as well as panisse, an amazing chickpea pancake, tapenade, pieds et paquets (yes, I know, strange when you say it like that: these are slices of mutton stuffed with garlic, onion, parsley and herbs) and the delicious Provençal desserts. Yummy!
