At La Guérinière, the bike is a key that gently opens up the island. From the very first turns of the wheel, the iodized air, the ribbon of dunes and the silhouettes of windmills guide you like beacons. You'll glide between sheltered beaches on the ocean side and salt marshes on the bay side, on quiet, flat paths ideal for a family outing or a solo getaway.

From the village, it takes just 15 minutes to reach the sandy paths behind the dune, put down the bike and walk barefoot to the water. On the other side, the étiers form a silvery checkerboard where egrets and avocets are reflected; follow the dike, the lapping accompanies the ride. The Vélodyssée crosses the island: a few kilometers to the north and you're skirting pine forests and wet meadows, always at your own pace.
