An update: as the business explained, the bank eventually returned the €1000 deposit after a 30-day wait. Caveat emptor: most places will require a deposit to secure the rental which is understandable given the problem of bikes never returned. But be aware that if the terminal hiccups or some other technical issue affects the timely repayment of your deposit, the default mode of operation is for the bank to hold the deposit for 30 days. If you can't be without that money for 30 days, my advice is don't rent the bikes.
Earlier: The e-bike was a nice rental but the store takes a €1000 deposit and promises to return that money within 48 hours of returning the bike. For me it's been 5 days and they have not returned the €1000 deposit. They have not responded to emails showing a zero balance on the receipts. And the phone number listed goes straight to voicemail. I'd really like the €1000 returned. Recommend not renting from them.
