EXCURSION WITH TASTING AT TENUTA CASADEI
Tenuta Casadei — Suvereto
Nestled in the hills of Alta Maremma, just a stone's throw from the sea of the Etruscan Coast, Tenuta Casadei is born from the extraordinary meeting between Stefano Casadei, a Tuscan agronomist and native of this land, and Fred Cline, a California wine entrepreneur from Sonoma Valley. (Callmewine) Two distant worlds, one shared passion: wine.
The philosophy guiding every choice is Biointegrale®: a concept of ethical agriculture that places environmental protection at the heart of everything, eliminating synthetic chemical products and respecting the natural vitality of the soil. (MTV Toscana) Not just vineyards and a winery: the estate also features a butterfly garden, an organic vegetable garden, a natural pond, and Comtois work horses that help among the rows. (Suvereto Wine)
The vineyards, cultivated with international grape varieties like Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Syrah, and Mediterranean varieties such as Ansonica and Moscato, produce elegant and fruity wines, full of minerals from the Suvereto terroir.
We start from the medieval village of Campiglia Marittima, one of the jewels of the Etruscan Coast, with its stone streets, ancient towers, and panoramic views that embrace the entire coast. A start that is worth the trip on its own.
The route continues along scenic roads in the Tuscan hills, where each bend reveals a breathtaking view: the shimmering Gulf of Follonica in the distance, with the silhouettes of the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago — Elba, Giglio, Capraia — suspended between sky and sea.
As we descend towards Suvereto, the landscape becomes even more enchanting: the path passes by a historic tuff quarry, a silent testimony to centuries of history and craftsmanship, one of those places that only those who take things slowly can discover.
Arriving at Tenuta Casadei is an experience in the pure heart of Maremma: we ride through the vineyards on e-bikes, among the orderly rows and the scent of the earth, to reach one of the most fascinating wineries in the area. Here, we await an extraordinary wine tasting paired with the authentic flavors of this exceptional land. Price per person, minimum two bikers.
