Ski lessons, equipment hire and coffee – it almost seems unfair to give just one five-star rating, given how delighted we were!
We received a brilliant welcome right from the start, with quick replies to my questions and sound advice.
The children had never skied before and both had a brilliant week, making noticeable progress. Béa immediately realised that the two brothers needed to be separated so they could each develop at their own pace. And that clearly paid off. The older one ended up with Clem, whom he clearly got on very well with.
For my part, I really appreciated the man in charge of the equipment, for his warm welcome, his sound advice and the equipment that was truly fine-tuned to perfection (soft bindings for the beginner mum, which really spared her knees, for example). It’s worth noting in particular that his welcome was already excellent – efficient without rushing us – but that, on top of that, all this happened during the break, which he consequently started late as we’d been waiting our turn. A gesture that was much appreciated, even though I was rather annoyed as I hadn’t realised what time it was. In any case, it’s the sort of attitude that sets the tone, and clearly, the rest of the team rose to the occasion.
Finally, we must mention the café, which also serves food – very good and, above all, a bit original. We’ve been there three times now, and always enjoyed it. I particularly liked the sandwich – it was really tasty. We also tried the focaccia platter with olives, cheese and chorizo. The children loved the Reblochon!
The homemade desserts were absolutely excellent. We arrived just as the lemon tart was cooling down, and my mum thought it was delicious. As for me, I loved the carrot cake served as a muffin: the icing – which I don’t usually like – was perfect – full of flavour, slightly crunchy and not covering the whole thing.
It’s worth noting the friendly, attentive service and the staff’s willingness to chat. The lady was a bit stretched thin, juggling looking after us with emails for the ski school, phone calls and so on.
And yet we always felt very welcome.
The only downside is that the food is portioned more for a light snack with a drink than for a proper, hearty meal – at least in my mum’s opinion.
Personally, I thought it was perfect for anyone in the middle of a day’s sport who doesn’t want to stuff themselves and spend the afternoon digesting…
In short, I’m just a bit embarrassed that I can’t name the staff who looked after us so well, but I hope this lengthy review conveys just how pleased we were to have been so warmly welcomed and looked after.
We’ll be back with great pleasure and we highly recommend Oxygène’s services, whether it’s the ski school, equipment hire or the catering. Well done to the whole team for a brilliant job!
