As we were travelling, we found ourselves in a bit of a bind and couldn’t carry on with our group. I’m not usually one to leave comments. However, I was so impressed by the quality of the service that I felt it was important to mention it. First of all, the welcome: The sun was shining down on Valloire and the mountains as I approached the shop. I’m greeted by Julien and Edouard, who give me a warm ‘Hello’, accompanied by broad smiles. They immediately put me at ease and I feel right at home (or even like part of the family). I explained my problem to them and they got straight to work! They gave me advice, took my wheels apart, changed my tyres and even took the time to explain everything to me. Not just as a courtesy, but above all out of the goodness of their hearts. Another big thank you to Julien and Edouard, who welcomed me when I was worried about the state of my bike and saw me set off again happy and put at ease.

The equipment is excellent; no complaints there. However, the customer service is frankly appalling. Hiring a bike should be an enjoyable experience. Here, though, you mainly feel like you’re in the way: unfriendly staff, endless waiting times with no explanation, and a rather shocking way of speaking to customers… They just rush you through rather than making you feel welcome. It’s a shame, because the equipment is up to scratch. But as far as I’m concerned, once is enough – I won’t be going back. I’d rather buy a bike than come back here to hire one.

Hello. After more than 10 years as a loyal customer of Jérôme’s, come summer or winter, I was very surprised by the reception I received from one of the staff members, who showed no knowledge of the bikes on hire, implying that the bike’s weight ‘doesn’t matter’, as if to say, “you don’t know anything about it”. And yes, Jérôme, I am indeed the customer who bought your old Mondraker Foxy RR from you. But that’s just a minor detail, compared to our kindness and loyalty. Be careful not to look down on your customers even more when you yourself know nothing about bikes. 🫠 Report: Weight / Speed / Energy required to control the bike. This is the basis for adapting to customers’ body types and weights. Shame on you. We won’t be coming back. What a pity. Yours sincerely, The Avenel family
