Rent an electric bike for your holidays
On holiday, an electric bike changes everything: you cover more ground without breaking a sweat. A day along La Vélodyssée on the Atlantic coast, a loop around Lake Annecy, the Promenade des Anglais in Nice or the paths of Porquerolles become accessible to the whole family, even less-trained legs. Many shops rent by the day for a big outing, or by the week to roam throughout your stay.
Conquer the hills and ride further
This is where the assist makes all the difference: the climb up La Rhune in the Basque Country, the roads of the Nice hinterland or Alpine lakeside paths become effortless. You ride longer, come back less tired, and dare loops you'd never attempt on a regular bike. It's also the best way to test an e-bike in real conditions before, perhaps, buying one.
Which electric bike should you rent?
The most widely available are the trekking (city and touring) e-bike, perfect for towns and greenways. For trails and mountains, go for an electric mountain bike; to carry kids and shopping, a cargo bike; and to combine train and bike, a folding model. On hilly terrain or for long distances, the assist truly shines. Just tell the shop where and how you plan to ride and they'll guide you to the right model.
Range and assistance levels
A rental e-bike's range is usually between 40 and 100 km, depending on the model, battery and assistance level, plenty for a full day out. On flat ground, lower the assist to save battery and keep it for the hills. The charger is generally provided, so you can recharge between rides.
How much does it cost to rent an electric bike?
Expect around €43 per day on average. The price mainly depends on the duration (shops offer degressive rates) and the type of bike:

An electric mountain bike or a cargo bike costs a little more (around €53–€56 per day). A helmet and lock are often included, and a deposit (about 10% of the bike's value) is usually held and returned. Book online and compare shops for the best price.
