The 10 sunniest ski resorts

We tell you more about this resort!
Renting a snowshoe in Gerardmer is the best way to get a taste of winter in the Vosges. Accessible to families as well as the more athletically inclined, you can set off at the first snowfall, with no constraints, for a stroll to the rhythm of the snowflakes.
Here, the fir forests surround Lake Gérardmer and lead to the valleys of Xonrupt-Longemer and the peat bogs of Lispach. The trail winds its way between clearings, gentle ridges and views of the Hautes Vosges, sometimes right up to the edge of the Hohneck. The silence, the fresh snow, the animal tracks... the atmosphere is unique.
The ideal season is from December to March, depending on snow conditions. After a snowfall, leave early: the light is magnificent and the snow more buoyant. When it's windy or foggy, opt for forest routes rather than exposed ridges. Temperatures often fluctuate between -5°C and +5°C; check the weather report and the snow depth, and bear in mind that days are short in the middle of winter.
For a successful outing, dress in multi-layers, with gloves, hat and waterproof boots. Gaiters are very useful, as are poles. Bring water, snacks, a map or GPS track, and a small torch if the sun sets early. Stay on marked trails, respecting sensitive areas (especially peat bogs) and wildlife. Count on 1 to 2 hours for a family loop around the lake or in the fir forest; the most motivated will aim for a half-day trip to the crests.
With a Gerardmer snowshoe rental, you can explore at your own pace, as close as possible to your accommodation, choosing the right moment between two sunny spells. Renting on site means you can leave lightly and make the most of every window of good weather.
