The weather guides the day. After a snowfall or early in the morning, the light is superb and the snow more stable. In windy conditions, avoid the Hohneck ridges and opt for the undergrowth around Lac de Lispach or Lac des Corbeaux. If it's foggy, follow well-marked trails, and never venture out onto the lake ice. The season generally runs from December to March, with snow cover often best in January-February.
