We tell you more about this resort!

Want to experience winter in a different way? Renting a snowshoe at La Mongie Grand Tourmalet opens the door to immaculate landscapes accessible to all. You can move at your own pace, far from the noise, with the gentle sensation of floating on the snow. With family, friends or for a contemplative interlude, this is the ideal outing during your stay.

The setting is grandiose. Between the watchful Pic du Midi and the slopes of the Col du Tourmalet, the itinerary is panoramic. On the Barèges side, the Ayré forest and the Lienz plateau offer gentle itineraries, perfect for a first experience. Higher up, the ridges open up views of Néouvielle and the Campan valley. When the road to the pass is snow-covered, it becomes a white ribbon, very pleasant to follow, with a regular relief.

The weather changes quickly in the mountains. Mornings are often calmer, ideal after a snowfall to enjoy silent powder. January-February are the coldest; in March, the days get longer and the snow becomes a more load-bearing surface by mid-day. Avoid exposed summits in strong winds, and check the weather forecast and avalanche risk before setting off.

For practical reasons, equip yourself with breathable layers, warm gloves, a hat, category 3 or 4 sunglasses and sun protection. Waterproof footwear, gaiters and poles make all the difference. Bring water, a snack, a map or GPS, and stick to marked routes. With children, prefer loops close to the resort; the more athletic will be aiming for the slopes of Tourmalet for beautiful views. Snowshoe rental at La Mongie Grand Tourmalet leaves you free to adapt your outing to the mood of the day, simply and with complete peace of mind.
