Renting snowshoes at Le Semnoz allows you to discover a gentle, luminous plateau just a stone's throw from Annecy. Here, forests alternate with wide mountain pastures, and panoramic views of the lake, the Bauges, the Aravis and, on a clear day, Mont Blanc, make every step rewarding. The signposted routes are suitable for beginners and curious walkers alike, with great ideas as far as the Crêt de Châtillon for a 360° view.

The best period is generally from December to March, depending on snow conditions. After a snowfall, set off in the morning to take advantage of light powder and quieter crowds. On days of inversion, the Semnoz is bathed in sunshine above the sea of clouds at Annecy - a magical atmosphere. Beware, however, of the wind on the crests and the cold you may feel; the weather changes quickly at altitude.
