Rent a bike in Les Avanchers-Valmorel: rates, routes and tips

Cycling in Les Avanchers-Valmorel is an adventure in which mountains and forests form an exceptional playground. From the very first pedal stroke, you'll feel the freedom of gliding along the groomed trails, while admiring the panoramic views over the Tarentaise valley. With the option of renting an electric bike or mountain bike, everyone can try their hand at a sporty escapade or opt for a gentler ride, without fear of the difference in altitude.

In the morning, the fresh mountain air and dawning sun illuminate the trails that wind their way between wooden chalets and verdant mountain pastures. Don't miss the route to the Lac de la Vieille-Fontaine, accessible by mountain bike, or the climb to the Col de Méraillet, a must for thrill-seekers. For those looking to combine cultural discovery with physical effort, a loop to the medieval village of Saint-Marcel offers a fascinating account of Alpine history.

In summer, the weather remains mild, with occasional stormy afternoons: remember to pack a light windbreaker and plan your trips before the clouds arrive. At altitudes of over 1,400 metres, the sun beats down hard, so hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are a must. Don't neglect your water bottle either, as the numerous mountain fountains invite you to take a contemplative break rather than run.

Les Avanchers-Valmorel is also an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area by bike: venturing towards Moûtiers, you'll join a picturesque cycle path along the Isère, while the road to Brides-les-Bains offers a quick passage to sample the spa resorts. Sports enthusiasts will find plenty to do on the signposted mountain bike trails, which range from beginner to advanced levels.

Before setting off, always check the condition of your brakes and tire pressure. A small repair kit and a pocket pump can save the afternoon. Finally, choose the early morning slots to enjoy the peace and quiet before the influx of local cyclists, and savour the sound of the marmots singing in solitude.

In short, renting a bike in Les Avanchers-Valmorel is the promise of a complete change of scenery, between sporting challenges and moments of pure relaxation. So get your helmet ready, choose your mount, and set off to discover these grandiose landscapes that are just waiting for you to live out their most beautiful story on two wheels.

We wanted everyone to be able to understand how exceptional this shop and its entire team are, which is why we chose to write this review in both English and translated French.Because of the character limit, we had to split this review into two separate posts. 🇬🇧 English Version If you are staying in Orelle and planning to ski in Val Thorens or nearby resorts, we highly recommend Sport 2000. We are travelers from Japan and Taiwan and had planned to ski in Val Thorens on February 28th. We visited your shop the evening before to rent our equipment. From the moment we arrived on February 27th, we were truly touched by how kind and welcoming everyone was. A gentle brown-haired staff member who spoke English (we sincerely regret not asking for her name) patiently guided us through choosing our skis, boots, and helmets. She also took the time to ask about our skiing levels (we had two beginners and one intermediate skier) and carefully selected equipment that suited each of us. She made sure everything was comfortable and appropriate for our abilities. Because of her, we felt safe and confident. On February 28th, the day on the mountain became unexpectedly intense for one member of our group. After missing the last lifts, she had to ski down from the end of the VT26 Grand Fond slope toward the Télécabine d’Orelle (arrival station). During the descent, thick fog rolled in, greatly reducing visibility, and she encountered several unexpected challenges along the way, which delayed our return. Worried that we might not arrive in time to return the equipment, we called the shop. We apologize if we sounded a bit rushed on the phone, we were simply stressed by the situation. We sincerely thank you for your understanding and kindness. One team member helped us carry the equipment when we were completely exhausted, and another staff member efficiently handled the return and deposit refund. We are also deeply grateful that you waited a few extra minutes for us. That gesture truly meant a lot. We will keep a very beautiful memory of this experience. If it were possible, we would give 100 stars. We were initially worried about language barriers, but we found your shop to be warm, professional, and reassuring. The entire team was patient and genuinely caring. A heartfelt thank you again to the whole team. Your kindness truly marked our mountain stay. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

An afternoon’s cycling with our guide Bastien, who showed us round part of the region and told us about its history. The bikes were of a very high standard and well-maintained, and getting to grips with them was easy thanks to our guide’s explanations. We received a warm welcome. Beautiful sunshine topped it all off; we had a lovely afternoon. Thank you, and all the best with your future projects.

A very good rental company – we were given all the information we needed, the staff were friendly and offered good advice. A top-notch location, right inside the residential complex, next to the ski lockers and the slopes. Reasonable prices
