Looking for a breath of fresh air between fir forests and snow-covered mountain pastures? Renting a snowshoe at Les Brasses is the ideal way to discover this family-friendly Haute-Savoie massif at your own pace. Here, panoramas alternate between views of Lake Geneva, the Jura chain and, on a clear day, a glimpse of Mont Blanc. The signposted itineraries wind their way across the Plaine Joux plateau and pretty clearings, accessible to everyone from families to sporty walkers.

The best period is generally from December to March. After a snowfall, the next 24 to 48 hours offer magical conditions. In the morning, the snow is firmer and more pleasant for progress; in the afternoon, the light is soft and perfect for a contemplative stroll. Expect temperatures between -5 and +5°C depending on the day, and a more noticeable wind on the crests.
