Details on the journey
**Paris or Normandy? **Both**, of course! Thanks to the "La Seine à vélo" cycle route, which follows the banks of the Seine through the Île-de-France region, all the way to Deauville, there's no need to choose.**
Inaugurated in 2020, the Seine à vélo is a cycle route that will take you along almost 500km of 8 départements: Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Yvelines, Val-d'Oise, Eure, Seine-Maritime and Calvados. The final goal is to reach the superb beaches of Le Havre and Deauville 🌞🌊 from majestic Paris.
The total length of this journey can vary depending on the stops you make and the route you choose to follow. In general, the itinerary starts in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower or the Parc de la Villette, and follows the Seine to the Normandy region, to Rouen, Le Havre, Honfleur or Deauville. The recommended length of time to cycle the entire Seine route will depend on your cycling pace and the number of stops you make. It's best to allow at least a week, or even 9 days, to fully enjoy the experience, take your time and fully explore all these nuggets!
Today, the Seine à vélo is an itinerary that alternates between dedicated greenways and small shared roads. "The route is 100% continuous, thanks to the temporary sections that have been installed. One third of the route is dedicated right-of-way, and two-thirds is shared right-of-way", details the website La Seine à vélo, managed by several local authorities. On some sections, the current route is provisional, both for the itinerary itself and for the services offered to cyclists.
Don't panic, the route is almost completely signposted! You'll find La Seine à Vélo signs in both directions in Hauts-de-Seine, Val d'Oise, Eure, Calvados and Seine Maritime. Look out for the pretty white and green bicycle signs flanked by the La Seine à Vélo logo and the n°33, which corresponds to the number of this itinerary. For all sections where the route is in the process of being signposted, there's plenty of information here.

At Jumièges, you'll be faced with a Cornelian choice: continue towards Le Havre or divert towards Deauville. 🏖️ The itinerary offers you two routes:
➡️ 386km to Le Havre
➡️ 418km to Deauville
(We know, it's a tough decision)
Here are a few ideas for quick getaways:
➡️ La Seine à Vélo from Paris to Giverny (150 km)
➡️ Rouen to Deauville (220 km)
La Seine à Vélo, isn't that enough?
You can join the London-Paris Avenue Verte and the Vélomaritime/EuroVelo 4. The routes intersect, the adventures multiply. 🌐🗺️
Most of the route is relatively flat and suitable for all levels of cyclist, including beginners. Watch out for the hilly sections as you approach the hills of Normandy! The road surface varies along the route (smooth, soft, rough), but it's best to take a VTC or a gravel bike.
Following this itinerary, you'll have the chance to discover many charming towns, castles, abbeys, gardens and historic sites. Don't miss Rouen, Vernon, Giverny (home of Monet), and Honfleur on the Normandy coast.
