Stayed here for 1 night in September. Excellent hotel, underground parking under the square just around the corner (1 min walk) is very convenient. The hotel is very close to shopping, dining and the castle. We particularly were impressed by Maude on reception, friendly, bilingual, efficient and super helpful when we were looking to book a room in another best western for the following night. We will be back :-)

We stayed in Caen as a jump off point to visit various museums and sites in Normandy. The Moderne is well located to visit the Caen Castle and the Normandy museum, and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The breakfast each morning has a lovely variety. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We have stayed at hundreds of hotels 1 star to 5 star. This hotel rates with the best. The positives: friendly and accommodating staff (especially Sarah), good wifi but fades out now and then, shower with a full door, good room lighting, quiet room, comfortable bed, clean property and room, walking distance to restaurants, good elevator, decent breakfast buffet. The negatives: the room is a bit small for a 4 star hotel and the price you pay(more like an Ibis Styles size room(small). Bottom line-we would gladly stay there again.

Clean room, comfortable bed, decent service, good location. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking, but there is an underground parking garage just a 2-minute walk away.
