We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Royal Hotel Caen! The staff was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I am a tea drinker so the kettle in the room was lovely. The organic teas were a nice touch! My SO had breakfast downstairs and enjoyed it. We were visiting the DDay sites - this was a great starting and ending point. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Caen.

Great location, directly across from the underground parking garage where we kept the car. Within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and sites. Super clean, staff were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. Only negative I’d say is that our room faced the square and it did get a little rowdy at night once or twice which woke us up. If I’d kept my earplugs in it would have been fine, so just be aware. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to fellow travelers for future visits.

Stayed here two nights and didn’t get much sleep. You can hear everything through the walls. I should have known when there were earplugs waiting in the bedside tables. Both nights there were large groups of kids staying in nearby rooms. The room had A/C but there was a heatwave and it never really cooled off.

My stay at the hotel was fine, but not particularly memorable. The room was very small, with barely enough space to open a suitcase or move comfortably around the bed. What stood out most, unfortunately, were the rigid rules communicated by the hotel. For example, guests are required to register their preferred breakfast time in advance, with the warning that service might be refused otherwise. Additionally, housekeeping will not clean your room unless the “please make up my room” sign is placed on the doorknob by 11:00 a.m. sharp. These policies made the experience feel a bit unwelcoming. The breakfast itself was standard for a French hotel: bread, jam, eggs, and coffee that left much to be desired. However, the fresh orange juice was a pleasant highlight. Overall, while the hotel met basic expectations, the lack of flexibility and warmth left me underwhelmed.
