Feel like cycling in the fresh air? In Peyrat-le-Château, cycling is the best way to explore Lac de Vassivière and its forests, at the gentle pace of small roads. As you leave the town of granite and brown tiles, the road winds its way through chestnut trees, low mossy walls and meadows. Soon, the lake sparkles. Head for the beaches of Auphelle or Broussas for a swim, then take the route around the shore, undulating just enough. With an electric bike, the entire tour of the lake becomes a smooth ride; with a mountain bike, you can venture onto more playful forest trails.

Favourite moment: crossing the dike and reaching Vassivière Island, walking a few metres, discovering an open-air work of art, then setting off again, the scent of pine trees in your breath.
