Mixed review.
We arrived at the campsite on 24 December and received a very warm welcome.
We had booked two mobile homes as a family (with a child and a 16-month-old baby), which were very clean on arrival.
On 24 December at around 7 pm, the electricity cut out in both mobile homes. We rang the campsite but no one was there. We were told they would call us back. A few minutes later, someone rang us and asked us to look inside a manhole in front of the mobile home (extremely dangerous as water and electricity were mixed), but we did so anyway and pointed out that the problem wasn’t there.
The person therefore had to come out (a 1 hour 15 minute drive) as everyone was celebrating New Year’s Eve with their families, which we understood. Unfortunately, without heating or electricity and with a 16-month-old baby, it wasn’t easy.
On arrival, the very friendly technician restored our electricity and showed us how to switch it back on if it cut out (we’d have to go to the meter). She also gave us the keys to a chalet in case the power cut out again. This happened several times that evening, so at 10 pm we decided to move house – which meant waking the baby up – and we still hadn’t eaten (great for a family New Year’s Eve) plus we’d already done a five-hour drive.
When we arrived at the chalet, it was 12 degrees; we had to move everything back in and make the beds all over again… Needless to say, our Christmas Eve was ruined.
We thought we could stay, but the chalet had been booked for 26 December.
So we had to move everything out again on 25 December after a chaotic, freezing night where we could feel the cold air coming in because there were no shutters on the windows – just curtains.
The campsite found us a quick, temporary solution, even though it was a bit of a faff.
Over the following days, we had to make the journey back and forth every evening to get the electricity reconnected. Which, frankly, isn’t the sort of job holidaymakers should have to do 🙁 during the Christmas period. The power even went out across the whole campsite, so we went to switch it back on for everyone on our last evening.
We received compensation that fell short of our expectations, given the problems we encountered throughout our stay and with two young children.
We hope things improve for future guests, and a word of warning to those with young children: things can quickly become complicated.
Our aim is simply to share our experience, not to criticise this campsite, which, despite everything, has some great features (summer facilities, sports complex, etc.) and was very responsive in finding a solution for us.
