Oliveto Lario is a wonderful place to discover by bike: between the shores of the lake and the green slopes, every pedal stroke offers a new viewpoint. Here, the road hugs the water, passing through peaceful little hamlets and revealing, at the turn of a bend, luminous panoramas of the mountains.

For an easy ride, choose the lakeside sections early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when traffic is calmer and the light softer. You can link up with neighboring villages, take a break on a bench overlooking the boats, or stop by a small beach to soak your feet. More athletic cyclists will enjoy getting away from the shore and climbing into the hinterland: the climbs are demanding, but the descent and the views are worth the effort.
