In Pradines, the Lot valley lends itself to cycling like no other. Mount your bike in the early hours of the morning, the mist still hanging over the water, and the ribbon of the véloroute winds its way through vineyards and reed beds. An easy, flat itinerary: follow the river towards Douelle, stop near a lock, listen to the lapping sound and set off again to the rhythm of the reflections. Looking for a bit of heritage? Head for nearby Cahors: reach the Pont Valentré, stroll through the narrow streets, then, for the more motivated or on an electric bike, climb up to a belvedere to take in the whole Lot loop in a single glance.

Around Pradines, the causses offer another face: small white roads lined with low walls, stunted oaks, dry-stone cazelles. Perfect for mountain bikes or gravel, with a few more challenging paths for mountain bikes. Here, you can pedal gently, breathe in the sun-warmed limestone and take the time to observe: a flight of kites, a gliding boat, a vineyard that changes hue as the day goes by.
