Taormina is a marvellous place to discover by bike: between its perched lanes, panoramic views of Mount Etna and coastal roads bathed in light, every pedal stroke offers a new perspective on Sicily. In just a few minutes, you're on your way from the lively terraces of the town center to quieter lanes lined with olive trees and bougainvillea, with the sea as a backdrop.

For an accessible ride, set off early in the morning to avoid the heat and traffic. Join the belvederes around the old town for superb views, then descend gently to the coast: the route to Isola Bella is short but intense, with a few leg-warming slopes. If you're feeling more sporty, you can continue on to Giardini-Naxos, ideal for a break on the beach and a coffee overlooking the boats.
